Beautiful Picture

I tried to draw a picture of you
It's not as easy as it looks
Either on a canvas or a drawing pad
I couldn't complete a single stroke

I tried to trace you on a screen mounted on the wall
While it looked so easy 
It took me an eternity
This portrait of you looked so real
Yet it has no breath no soul

So burn up the canvas and toss those drawings aside
I'm saying goodbye to all the failures before my final try

I will trace you with my fingers and paint you with my lips
I try to draw you close but the memory of you slips
So alone on the wall you linger
Forever my own to savour
My beautiful picture to remember
Once in December
