Sonic Fest 2005: Reflections

I went to pick Ah Nay up from TC and then fetched Blob and Van. Gloria had sound check at 8 and TOSOG at 8.30. Sound check from TOSOG didn't go as planned coz Van was still very nervous. The rest of the day was spent hanging out with SW a while followed by a very boring day at the festival. No the events was not boring, but may be I was thinking more about my week, that's why. Dun get me wrong, it was a great event!

Tosog's set went surprisingly good! It went beyond my expectations despite some minor hiccups from Van. Still, for a first-timer, it was pretty cool! She sang with a lot of zest and confidence and I can see those ozzing out of her as the set progresses.

Playing with Jon and Liang is so comfortable, it set became so CFSiee. But as much as I enjoyed it, I don't want Tosog to become CFS. That is why I want to play with other musicians in my next jam. I have invited Max, Gid and Joel to jam this Wed. I dunno how the outcome will be, but I know it won't be emo. I mean it won't be "Mineral" or "Sunny Day" those kind of emo. But I really want to have some feel of "Fire Theft" and "Stavesacre", those kind of emo. More rock oriented. The uncertainties are so exciting! Moreover they are good musicians, I just love to create new stuff. May be they will add a new dimention to tosog.

At the same time I have been hanging out with Sherwin and I am looking forward to jamming with him and Jeremiah. I want to play around with prog rock and metal. It's the time I wear the Mike Portnoy, Ted Kirkpatrick and Neal Peart hat. This is so exciting! But only when time permits.

Music must take a back seat now. I cannot think about it all the time as I have other more imprtant things to do for now. But I am excited, yet I know it's a test of my commitment to my purpose in life. I want to first fulfil my primary purpose first! That is to God and my wife.

Music must wait, but won't be forgotten.
